F. Arthur Uebel Boehm clarinet.

Does F. Arthur Uebel (before GDR era) made Boehm flutes? I have found one on pictures below. The engraving looks like an original F Arthur Uebel, but the rings on the barrel and bell looks like from GDR era clarinet. Any ideas? Serial number is 822 and below 69898.

Hi polhorn,

the serial number is 69898. This means, it is from 1969. So, it's from the GDR Area, right. FAU definitely made Boehm Clarinets, at least from 1963 onwwards. If they made such type of clarinet prior to 1963, I don't know.

I believe that the second number 822 is just the model name of the Boehm Design.
A clarinet with 6 rings for example shows the model name 621.

It the model number located below the serial number at the lower part?

The special design of the rings started after 1965 (latest in 1968). At least, I know an FAU clarinet from 1965 with the "old-fashioned" type of ring.

Regards,
Tobi

A brief addendum:
the model 822 was the best Boehm clarinet in FAU's assortment. It is described in the 1981 and 1989 catalogs.

Many greetings
Enrico

Thank you for the link.
This one has serial number 751871 instead of 69898. But both are model 822 - great find.

The question for me is, whether these are "Reform-Böhm" instruments - means German bore and Böhm mechanics, or Böhm bore and Böhm mechanics?

Regards, Tobi
